CO-ED DIVISION OBJECTIVES, GENERAL RULES AND NOTICES (Update 6/5/08):

Objective of TVRHL:

  • TVRHLwill always emphasize a healthy, safe, balanced, social, fair, division/team/player parity, and enjoyable atmosphere focusing on recreation and fun of roller hockey at all age and ability levels.

  • TVRHLis a non-checking league.

General Rules:

  • TVRHL participants must be registered and paid in full/payment plan before playing.

  •  “NO PAY = NO PLAY” policy will be strictly enforced.

  • REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:  HECC Approved helmet with full face cage or ½ visor, hockey gloves, hockey shin guards, elbow pads, skates, stick, hockey girdle or breezers, athletic cup (males only).  WE RECOMMEND wearing shoulder pads and a mouthpiece (required for all players under 18 years of age).

  • Any player associated with TVRHL MUST always be wearing a helmet upon entering the rink when skating or playing hockey.  This includes practices and free time at the rink.  ANY PLAYER REPORTED TO THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR FOR NOT ABIDING BY THIS RULE WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR 1 GAME, NO EXCEPTIONS.  The Recreation center has the ability to see the rink from the desk.

  • Abuse:  The TVRHL and the City of Calabasas will not tolerate the abuse of officials or players by spectators, players or coaches.  This includes any abusive language, heckling, intimidation, yelling or screaming at any of the above.

  • Any player found to be guilty of abuse will be given an AUTOMATIC game misconduct and a suspension/ejection from the league with no refund pending a committee hearing.  If the abuse comes from a spectator, the player for whom the spectator is there to see will be given a game misconduct, asked to leave the rink for the remainder of the day and the spectator will be asked to leave the rink and not return for 1 day.

  • Damaging Of Property: TVRHL and the City of Calabasas have invested a large amount of money into our facility.  We ask that everyone (players, spectators, coaches and officials) refrain from banging on, kicking or throwing things against the boards.  This only causes damage and will not be tolerated.

  • NO FIGHTING!!  Fighting will not be tolerated.  Anyone receiving a 5 minute major for fighting will automatically be ejected from the game and ejected from the season with NO REFUND.

  • ALL REFEREES CALLS ARE FINAL

  • Only designated “C” Captain of the team or “A” Assistant Captains can discuss calls with the referee.

  • ALWAYS skate in control.

  • ALWAYS play the puck, not the body.  Roughing, Hooking, High-sticking, and/or Slashing, etc., penalties will be called for those not playing the puck.  “STANDARD OF PLAY” principles from USA Hockey will be the enforcement standard for TVRHL.  PLEASE REFER TO USA HOCKEY’S “STANDARD OF PLAY” at www.TVRHL.com by clicking on the icon on the main page, or above your team’s player’s bench at the rink.

  • CHARGING will be called on a player who deliberately skates or jumps into an opponent or goaltender in any way.

  • If at any time a player loses any part of his/her equipment other than his/her stick during the action, he/she must retrieve equipment immediately or go directly to the bench.  A minor penalty can be assessed if play is continued without equip.

  • A player will automatically be ejected from the game on his/her 3rd individual penalty.

  • ICING will be called when a player behind the red face-off dot in his/her defensive end of the rink shoots a puck past the goal line in his/her offensive zone when both teams are playing at full strength.  Icing will be waved off if the puck is rolling across the goal line, or if a defensive player can play the puck, or crosses through the crease, or if the goaltender makes an attempt to play the puck.

  • SLAP SHOTS:  Females ONLY.  Males can not raise their stick above their knees on a backswing nor follow-through when passing, clearing, or shooting the puck.  A bench minor penalty will be given to the team on the second and more calls against.

  • There must be at least two female players on the rink at all times during game time.

  • No MALE player subs.  Only female subs that are currently registered in the TVRHL Co-ed Division are allowed to substitute for missing female players only.  No more that 4 substitute women are allowed per game/per team.

  • Substitute female players are not allowed to play in the final 5-minutes of the third period, including overtime periods in play-off games.  Substitute players are not allowed to participate in shoot-outs.

  • Players must complete a minimum of 5 season scheduled games to be eligible to play in play-off and division championship games.

  • Adding of players to any team roster must be approved by TVRHL officials at least 48-hours before scheduled game time.

  • SCORING:  Male players are limited to three (3) goals per game, unlimited assists.  There is no limit of goals or assists to any female player.  Additional scoring rules will apply to players/teams and put in place before each season.

  • Any Coaches/Captains/Team requests must be received by TVRHL League Officials no later than 48-hours before scheduled game time.  Most requests require opposing team Captain’s approval.

  • Registered Goaltenders can not play out. Teams are allowed a Sub goaltender for regular season and post-season games, but he/she must be currently registered in TVRHL.

  • Games will start on time!!  With or without goaltender/players.

  • TIME-OUTS:  Each team is allowed one (1) 1-minute time-out per game.

Sunday A.M. (MEN’S OPEN) Division
SUPPLEMENTAL GUIDELINES
(Revised June 2008)

  • Objective of TVRHL:

  • TVRHL will always emphasize a healthy, safe, balanced, social, fair, division/team/player parity, and enjoyable atmosphere focusing on recreation and fun of roller hockey at all age and ability levels.  TVRHL is a non-checking league.
  • General Rules:

  • Any player entering the Men’s Open division must first be rated for ability level by a league official before being placed on a team.
  • NO PAY = NO PLAY policy will be strictly enforced.  All players must be registered and paid in full in the TVRHL before playing.
  • NO FIGHTING!!  Fighting will not be tolerated on the rink or on the property of the park.  Anyone receiving a 5 minute major for fighting will automatically be ejected from the game and ejected from the season with NO REFUND.
PLEASE REFER TO USA HOCKEY’S “STANDARD OF PLAY” on the main page at www.TVRHL.com by clicking on the icon, or posted above your team’s player’s bench at the rink during games.
  • ALWAYS skate in control.
  • CHARGING will be called on a player with the puck who deliberately skates or jumps into an opponent or goaltender in any way.
  • HIGHSTICKING:  Any contact made by a stick on an opponent above the goal crossbar is not allowed.
  • REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:  HECC Approved helmet with full cage or ½ visor, hockey gloves, hockey shin guards, elbow pads, skates, stick, hockey girdle or breezers, athletic cup (males only).  WE RECOMMEND wearing shoulder pads and a mouthpiece (required for all players less than 18 years of age).
  • If at any time a player loses any part of his/her equipment other than his/her stick during the action, he/she must retrieve equipment immediately or go directly to the bench.  A minor penalty can be assessed if play is continued without equipment.  If a stick is broken, it must be dropped immediately and not used during play.
  • A player will automatically be ejected from the game on his/her 3rd individual penalty.
  • Games or clock will start on time with or without goaltenders or players.  A team must have at least 5 players at all times during the game or the team forfeits the game.  There will be a 4-minute warm-up, 1-minute break between periods.
  • The Team Captain is responsible for making sure his/her team has at least five (5) players and one (1) goaltender present before the start of their game.  If a team will be short players or a goaltender, arrangements must be made at least 48 hours before scheduled game time with a league official and opposing Team Captain.
  • SUBSTITUTE PLAYERS:  Player substitutions are allowed, but MUST be approved at least 48-hours before scheduled game time by both a league official AND opposing Team Captain.  The player substitute can only be the same ability level or less of the player he/she is substituting for.  A SUBSTITUTE PLAYER CAN NOT SCORE GOALS, but is allowed unlimited assists in goals.  GOALIE SUBSTITUTIONS are allowed, but must be approved by a league official at least 48-hours before scheduled game time.
  • TIME-OUTS:  Each team is allowed one 1-minute time-out per game.
  • Stop time last 3 minutes of 3rd period if goal differential is 3 goals or less.  No overtime in regular season play.
  • ICING will be called when a player behind the yellow face-off dot in his/her end of the rink shoots a puck past the goal line in his/her defensive zone when both teams are playing at full strength.  Icing will be waved off if the puck is rolling across the goal line, or if a defensive player can play the puck, or crosses through the crease, or if the goaltender makes an attempt to play the puck.
